Answer: In accordance with the Vroom Yetton model, she makes use of type 2 of Autocratic while making her very first decision. On the basis of the case study, a decision taken by Kathy regarding holidays high productivity is considered viable and compatible. In case a senior wants a strategy of priority holiday, they will further improve their productivity as per the work and it will result well for business. In the terms of second decision, Kathy makes use of type 2 of group-based decisions. She gave responsibility to the group regarding information collection and decision making. However; productivity increased as there were new equipment, in the proposed incentive plan there will be a possibility that individual can earn higher amount without making extra efforts. Further, this process of decision is not suitable for making group decisions. In the decision related to participation process, Kathy made following mistakes as she did not provide sufficient time to workers regarding discussion. Further, she did not participate in discussion and leaves after introducing the plan but without giving its justification and benefits to employees. The solution for mistakes made are, Kathy would have given more time and efforts for making a decision and she must be part of the discussion and must interpret and think what decisions are suitable for a group decision. The manager must seek records of their workers regarding their discussion and work (Williams, 2013). The three preconditions to be considered to make sure effective introducing participation in the department are; allocation of independence for expressing their opinion, ideas and opposition to the view expressed by others. A feeling of listening to others and further understanding it from own perception. However; in the decision taken Kathy didnt provide an opportunity to workers to point the issue and left them alone. A leader plays a significant role in the discussion so she must have been present (Goetsch and Davis, 2014). Henceforth these two decisions were not appropriate for introducing participation in the department. References Goetsch, D.L. and Davis, S.B., 2014.Quality management for organizational excellence.
